08-307 Decatur Fractured Base Point made from raw, honey colored, translucent Flint River Georgia chert. This is an Early Archaic corner notch variety with a unique feature. The edges of the base have been fractured off by the removal of tiny burin flakes from the corners of the stem. Also, the sides of the stem were treated the same way. This is one of the nicest specimens of the type I have made to date, it glows when held up to the light! Length, 2 15/16 inches. Price, $30.

For more on these points, see my article in The Best Of CHIPS The Third Five Years, pages 112-117.

08-320 Besant-type Archaic Corner Notch point made from Knife River chalcedony from North Dakota.  As the story goes, a swamp was buried, turned into lignite, then "silicified," turning it into chalcedony. This formation was later eroded out and the chalcedony is now found as cobbles in the resulting gravel. When this point is held up to the light, it is a beautiful translucent, honey color with white flicks showing. These specks are pieces of fossilized cattail leaves from the old swamp! Length, 2 7/8 inches. Price, $20.

08-322 Fancy Side Notch point made from Knife River chalcedony from North Dakota. Just a neat piece in a neat material! Length, 2 11/16 inches. Price, $20.

08-220 Hardin point made from a heat treated Crescent-Burlington chert. Has more pink in it than what the scan shows. Also has a nice, sharp beveled edge, a classic piece! Length,  4 inches. Price, $40.

08-123 Thebes point made from tan colored heat treated Burlington chert. With a full width blade, this is a very nice, smaller example of the type before use and re-sharpening by beveling the edges.  Length, 2 7/8 inches. Price, $20.

08-321 Oxbow Point made from Knife River chalcedony from North Dakota. Similar to the eastern lobbed base types, this example from the northern High Planes is said to be from the Middle to Late Archaic in that area, circa 3200 BC. Length, 2 1/2 inches. Price, $15.

08-259 Lost Lake type point made from heat treated Burlington chert. Has thin blade and deep notches, a good looking piece for the price! Length, 2 15/16 inches. Price, $15.

08-271 Lost Lake type point made from heat treated Flint Ridge chert. Has a heavily beveled blade like most specimens that have been used and re-sharpened a lot. Length, 3 5/16 inches. Price, $15.

08-203. Economy E-notch made from Flint Ridge chert. The blade is heavily beveled, is twisted a bit, and shows some of the original blank spall surface. Not un-common traits found on originals. A good point for a starter collection! 3 inches. Price, $15.

08-242 Ohio Archaic "Bevel" point made from heat treated Flint Ridge chert.  This one is of the classic round base type, however the blade is not beveled as were the old points when freshly made. Add this one to your collection of worn out points to show what a pristine piece originally looked like! Length, 3 9/16 inches. Price, $35.

08-187 Economy Afton point made from heat treated Burlington-Crescent chert. Length, 2 1/8 inches. Price, $10.
